On 3 September 2024 PublicAffairs published the US and Canadian edition of Neil Lawrence’s book as The Atomic Human: What Makes Us Unique in the Age of AI. The UK edition, The Atomic Human: Understanding Ourselves in the Age of AI, appeared with Allen Lane on 6 June 2024.

The North American release keeps the same core argument — that slicing away the facets of intelligence machines can take on leaves an indivisible human core — under a subtitle that stresses uniqueness in the age of AI.
