On 1 August 2022 ELLIS announced that its members had elected a new Board following the July general assembly. Neil Lawrence was among five newly elected Fellows joining the management body of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems.
ELLIS is a pan-European network of AI research excellence; the Board sets its strategic agenda. Neil’s election sits alongside the group’s work with European AI networks, including the ELISE / European Network of AI Excellence Centres programme. He remains listed on the ELLIS Board; ELLIS later profiled him in its Meet the Board series (January 2026).
