On 7 April 2026 Trent AI emerged from stealth with a $13M seed round led by LocalGlobe and Cambridge Innovation Capital. Neil Lawrence is co-founder and chief scientist; Eno Thereska is CEO and Zhenwen Dai is CTO. The company was founded in 2025 to build security for the agentic era — specialised AI agents that scan, judge, mitigate and evaluate risk across autonomous workflows and the code they generate.

The pitch is that agent adoption is outrunning enterprise security stacks built for software that holds still. Trent’s multi-agent loop is meant to keep pace: continuous observation of code, infrastructure and runtime behaviour; prioritisation of real risk over static rules; remediation (including pull requests and configuration fixes); and tracking of security posture over time. Early design partners include ML@Cam among others. Coverage includes SiliconANGLE.

Neil’s role connects the lab’s work on how machine learning systems are deployed and governed to a commercial effort at securing agents in production. More at trent.ai.
