GDS Responsible AI Advisory Panel holds its first meeting

The GDS Responsible AI Advisory Panel held its first meeting on 2 March 2026. The Government Digital Service established the panel, under the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, to advise ministers and senior officials on the responsible use of AI across government. It sits within the government’s AI for the public good agenda.
The panel is chaired by Jeni Tennison and draws members from the public sector, industry, academia and civil society. Neil Lawrence is a member, contributing on machine learning, data governance and AI systems. Further context is on the group’s project page.
