Biography
Soumya is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of York, working on explainable and trustworthy AI with applications in healthcare and computational biology. He was previously an Assistant Research Professor on the Accelerate Programme at Cambridge. He analyses complex problems and implements statistical and machine learning techniques for deriving insights from large amounts of data, working closely with experimentalists and clinicians. Before Cambridge he worked in industry and held research positions at Oxford, CSIRO, Harvard Medical School and the Max Planck Institute. He collaborates with domain experts in finance, healthcare, immunology, virology and cell biology, and has worked with clinicians and patients on patient and public involvement to build trust in AI algorithms.
